Social Media Ads: The funding can help you to promote your business via Facebook or Instagram ads.

Registering your business: The funding will enable you to register yourself as a LTD company.

If you have a business idea you’d like to launch online, please apply for a StartUp Grant via the form below.

If you are successful in receiving a grant, you must be able to evidence that you have spent it and launched your idea within 30 days. More details can be found in the terms and conditions below.

Terms & Conditions

  1. On receiving funding you must launch your website within 30 days. If don’t have enough time to launch it in full, you can make a holding page and your social channels live in this period.

  2. You will be asked to prove that you have launched your business idea online. This will entail you emailing evidence.

  3. You will be asked to come and meet DMU’s student and graduate enterprise team to present your work in an informal meeting, so we can determine how best to support you going forward.

  4. Free online guidance on how to create and launch a Squarespace website is available, here: https://www.squarespace.com/press-coverage/2013/11/19/how-to-use-squarespace-to-build-a-website-for-your-business

  5. The amount of money you receive is a set figure, pre-determined by De Montfort University.

  6. If you choose to request funds to launch a website, you will be required to sign up to a Squarespace account with your DMU email address in order to be eligible for a 50% educational discount. We are not able to assist with this registration process, nor with help directly on how to design and launch your website.

  7. DMU reserve the right to decline your application for a DMUmade Startup Grant. There is no appeal process and our decision is final.

  8. You must be a current De Montfort University student or have graduated from DMU in the last 12 months to be eligible for a grant.

  9. Applications will close on 1st June 2022 or before if all of the available grant money has been allocated. As there is a limited amount of funding available, we recommend you apply now.
