DMU Entrepreneurship Day 2022
We’re encouraging Academics and Professional Services staff from all across the University to get involved with DMU Entrepreneurship Day 2022. It’s our annual TEDx-style conference, featuring guest speakers, Q&A’s and performances.
Confirmed speakers include:
Entrepreneur, Author and TV Chef Kwoklyn Wan
Hollywood actor Tom Prior (pre-recorded interview)
KISS FM DJ Sam Darlaston
Award-winning Researcher Katie Laird
and many more…
This year’s theme is all about self-confidence and empowerment, and is open to students, graduates, staff and the business community.
Want to know more, take a look at last year's event, in the video below.
We have partnered with the Sir Thomas White Loan Charity, who provide loans for new business ideas and young businesses needing investment. For further information visit www.stwcharity.co.uk. The event is also supported by BID Leicester, as part of our work with them on the Leicester’s Future Entrepreneurs programme.

DMUmade gets underway with much success
This year’s DMUmade programme got underway earlier this month. More than 80 applicants were shortlisted for the programme which sees 30 entrepreneurial students and graduates attending weekly workshops to learn practical skills.
The workshops include topics like “How to create your own podcast”, “Building your own website” and “What is an Entrepreneur?”
Vikesh moving on
Our colleague Vikesh Mistry is moving on from DMU on 18 November. We wish Vikesh all the very best, we know he will smash it in his new role at the University of Birmingham.

Join us at our annual Christmas Quiz on 1 December
Our legendary Christmas quiz returns and this time we’re taking over the ground floor of the DSU Campus Centre on Thursday 1 December, between 4.30pm - 6.30pm.
It’s our chance to say thank you to colleagues who have supported our work in 2022, and we would love to see as many of you there as possible! You’ll be able to form your own groups of up to 6 people at the event.
We’re also going to give you a taste of our regular Connect events - which enable our students, graduates and staff to network and hear from the local business community.
Plus, the bar will be open so you can purchase food and drink. The event is free, but we do ask you to register so we can manage numbers. Sign up, here.
Register for a stall at Winter Wonderland
This year, we’re collaborating with DSU to bring you our annual Christmas DMUmade fair as part of their huge Winter Wonderland event.
Taking place on Thursday 1 December between 11am - 2pm, we encourage you to come down to the ground floor of the Campus Centre to purchase hand-made Christmas gifts.
If you would like to apply for a free stall, you can do so here.
Please also encourage creative students, graduates and colleagues to apply for a stall and/or attend the event.

“No matter what you want to do, belief in yourself is essential.
Feeling that you can do something makes it easier to try. In a word, self-belief empowers you”.
