WIN up to £1,000 with Pitch2win in partnership with The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity
We’re looking for current DMU students or graduates who finished their studies in 2021/2022 to pitch their business ideas for the chance to win up to £1,000 – courtesy of the Sir Thomas White Loans charity, an equal opportunity organisation providing personal loans for new business ideas, businesses needing investment and for the study of postgraduate education.
If you’ve launched a brand new business or side venture since July 2021 or you’re looking to launch a new business before July 2022, you can pitch your idea to us for the chance to win.
It’s well worth entering, because last year’s runner-up has gone on to win $150,000 investment!
The competition runs in three stages;
Stage One: Submit a 60 - 120 second video. Your video should include details of business (or proposed business) and tell us very clearly how you would spend prize money to benefit your business. Within your submission email please provide your name, your P Number, your course name and the name of the business. Your video doesn’t have to be a blockbuster, so you’re fine to film it on your phone.
Stage Two: From the video applications, we will select semi-finalists who will need to be available on Wednesday 4 May to deliver a pitch in person. Semi-finalists will also be required to attend a pitching workshop, which will take place in-person on a date and at a location to be confirmed. Competition pitches will then take place in person at LCB Depot, located in Leicester’s cultural quarter, which is 10 minute walk from the DMU campus.
Stage Three: Two finalists will make it to the live final which will take place on DMU campus during our main Student & Graduate Entrepreneurship Awards event on Wednesday 29 June 2022. The finalists will deliver their pitch to the live audience and the winner will take home £1,000. There will also be one runner’s up prize of £500. More details about the Awards can be found here.
To enter, you need to submit your video to enterprise@dmu.ac.uk no later than 5pm on MONDAY, 7 MARCH, 2022.

About The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity
The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity has been in existence since 1542 and was founded by one of the city’s most generous (but least well known) benefactors, Sir Thomas White. Although he never actually set foot in Leicester, Sir Thomas is honoured by being included as one of the four statues around the Clock Tower in the Leicester city centre.
We are an equal opportunity organisation providing personal loans for new business ideas, businesses needing investment and for the study of postgraduate education. Eligible candidates may borrow up to £20,000 for busines purposes and up to £10,000 for postgraduate education purposes, to establish themselves in their chosen career. All loans are personal loans which are interest free for 9 years, repayable by equal instalments after 3 years, and are available to people aged over 18 and under 45.
