Roshni Desai Designs
Roshni Desai graduated from DMU in 2019 and despite the pandemic, managed to launch her first lingerie collection on ASOS Marketplace less than one year after graduating.
The 23-year-old took inspiration for part of her collection from a family member who had recently undergone breast cancer surgery by designing a bralette that is comfortable yet fashionable for women after cancer treatment.
And now she has taken her work towards helping cancer patients further by partnering her designs with Leicester based charity 'Hope Against Cancer'.
Roshni has not only pledged to make a donation to the charity for every bralette sold on her online shop, but she has also worked with Hope to design a lingerie charity pin badge, with 25% of all pins sold being donated directly to help with vital research.
Roshni said: “My designs are inspired by a family member who felt extremely uncomfortable finding nice lingerie to suit her after she’d had multiple operations.
“The only bra she could wear was full cup. The bralette I have created is fully lined with mesh for comfort, has no wires in so it’s very flexible for the wearer and provides support for them whilst they’re recovering.
“I wanted to design something very pretty yet practical for them.”
She added: “Partnering my designs with a charity is something I have always wanted to do; I am partnered with Hope for a year, and I really want to make a difference.
“I want women to still feel amazing and confident about themselves after they have undergone surgery or treatment. Working with Hope I want to make this happen for more women.
“I am also hopefully going to take my collection to the NEC Bridal Show later this year and I will take this opportunity to raise more awareness and fundraising for the charity. I just want to make more women feel great about themselves.”
Roshni is currently a participant in DMU’s Crucible project.
