Nelson’s inspire students & graduates at latest Connect event

Laura Kearsley from Nelson’s Solicitors inspired an audience of entrepreneurial students and graduates at our latest Connect event, in partnership with The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity.

Held at Hotel Brooklyn, students and graduates learned networking tips from Laura, before putting them into practice with some busy networking which followed a number of guest talks.

Mark Charlton, Robyn Kenney and Danilele Wright from DMU all shared their expertise.

New starter

Rehana Lila will be joining the Enterprise and Entrepreneurship team on Monday 3 April.  Rehana is DMU alumni, having graduated with a Master's Degree in Creative writing in 2017.   Rehana has previously worked here as a Student Ambassador and as a Marketing Communication’s Officer.  She has also worked in Dubai as a Content writer and English Teacher and as an Energy Specialist.

Whilst Rehana 'replaces' Vikesh, we'll be taking her role back to the original job description, so her primary focus will be on comms, making connections with faculties, curating content for lectures, reporting and coordinating our events.

Enterprise & Entrepreneurship to launch new Fashion pre-accelerator

Students and graduates interested in launching a fashion-focused side-hustle or business will soon be able to take part in a new pre-accelerator programme which will help them turn their ideas into businesses.

Students will receive 1-2-1 support, mentoring, workshops, off-site visits and networking. Pre-accelerator programmes enable participants to learn skills such as costing and pricing, building and running online stores, branding, graphic design and more. Please recommend any student who may be interested to submit an expression of interest form, here.

“No matter what you want to do, belief in yourself is essential.

Feeling that you can do something makes it easier to try. In a word, self-belief empowers you”.
